Shaun Anthony Haywood, 29, faces possible life sentence for alleged attack on security guard at supermodels Los Angeles home
A man has been charged with the attempted murder of a security guard who was stabbed at the home of supermodel Miranda Kerr.
Shaun Anthony Haywood, 29, allegedly slashed the guards face with a knife after breaking into the Australian models Los Angeles property to deliver a letter on 14 October, prosecutors say.
Haywood, from Australia, was then shot by the armed security guard, the Los Angeles county district attorneys office said.
Haywood, also known as Esra, is charged with wilful, deliberate and premeditated attempted murder, aggravated mayhem and assault with a deadly weapon, a knife. He faces a possible life sentence.
Kerr who was previously married to the British actor Orlando Bloom and is engaged to Snapchats co-founder, Evan Spiegel was not at home at the time, police said.
Haywood is accused of grabbing the knife from the security guard after being confronted on Kerrs Malibu property.
He was due to appear before the Los Angeles county superior court on Tuesday to face the charges.
The deputy district attorney, Elizabeth Dickinson, is handling the case, which includes an allegation that Haywood inflicted great bodily injury on the victim.
Bail will be recommended to be set at more than $1m, the district attorneys office said.
Both men were taken to hospital after the incident, police said. The security guard was stable and the intruder was described as critical with non-life threatening injuries.
Kerr, 33, was married to Bloom from 2010 to 2013, and they have a five-year-old son, Flynn.
The former Victorias Secret star is regularly listed among the worlds highest-paid models.
