This fall there are tons of ways to update your wardrobe and your home! Whether it’s switching out lighter fabrics, like linen and cotton, for more cozy textures, like faux fur and cashmere, here are a few ideas to help get your home autumn ready.

1. Start with your bedroom. In the warmer months, we tend to use lighter fabrics and linens. Add some texture and warmth to your bedroom with heavier blankets and duvet covers.

2. Add touches of fall with some fun recipes. My friend Apollina had us all over for pumpkin pot pies. This recipe couldn’t feel more fall-like!

3. Update your wardrobe. Cozy knits and flannels are perfect to keep you warm in cooler months. As you transition your closet and put away some of your warm weather clothes, store them nicely in plastic containers or baskets in your closet  (or even donate what you don’t want).

4. Clean out your kitchen. The change of seasons is the perfect time to refresh an overflowing kitchen and pantry. Remove any expired goods (and dust) and fill your pantry with fall-inspired goods like pumpkin, fresh herbs and cinnamon.

5. Access your living room. Pull out warmer textures and earthy tones to make a room feel more fall-like. I love using knitted accent pillows and flannel throws in the living room during cooler months.

6. Keep your favorites. Have decorations that you can’t live without out for the next few months? Keep them. Whether it’s that bright yellow pillow you love or that summer breeze candle, don’t be scared to keep warm weather favorites — you can still add a touch of fall with the rest of your accents.

7. Add more texture. Fall and winter are a great time to introduce more textured fabrics that are on trend, like velvet. HomeGoods has some great velvet curtain selections — it can add a richer and darker feel that are perfectly appropriate for fall.
